#1 Think about the presentations and reflect on the projects your classmates presented and the information you listened to. Explain with details and specific information what you learned, what you found interesting, surprising, or shocking about the presentations you heard in class.
Overall everyone in Block H did a great job with their presentations. I definitely learned a lot about each UN World Issue. The world issues for Block H were Governance, Peacekeeping, International Law, Education, and Biodiversity. Governance did a great job with their PowerPoint. They added some entertainment to their slideshow and they also included a lot of information. I learned how to tell if Governance is good or not and basically what it is. These are a few examples of what good Governance is:
·        Free, fair, and many elections
·        A good judiciary that follows laws correctly
If Governance is the opposite that means that the governance is bad. The Peacekeeping presentation showed me what is was really like out there and it really helped me to see what happened in same places of the world. Peacekeeping was soldiers who protected the ones in need of protection like in DARFUR. International Law presented with a lot of information. International Law was just the general laws throughout nations. Education was an interesting topic because it was shocking that not many of the people in the world have education. Finally I learned the most about Biodiversity (the study of plants and animals) because it was my topic.
#2 What would you change to improve your project/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
To improve my project I would next time make sure that the text on my iMovie is readable and big so that people know what is going on. Also I would maybe add narration so that everyone can see and hear what is going on. Time management was a crisis for my group so I would next time work harder in class and make sure to get all my stuff done. I hope I still did a good job though!
Can the U.N. in its current configuration and operation of existing programs be effective in preventing global terrorism? Explain your answer?
In my opinion about the programs and operations of the U.N. for security, I think I would say they are currently doing OKAY. This is definitely not the best they can do. Look at the world now, it’s horrible. Terrorism is almost now affecting our whole world. We all probably know that all their goals are to keep peace around the world, that’s a goal that needs to be accomplished as soon as possible. Right now they are writing resolutions saying what should be done by each country. To be honest I don’t know any terrorist who would listen. They are bad people, I don’t think that they will listen to their resolutions and suddenly go, “oh okay, I won’t bomb anymore.” But, yes, the good thing is that they are really trying to keep this world safe and they are really inspirational and all. But overall if they kept their existing programs they are using now, I must safe that it will definitely be hard to prevent terrorism.

1. What new information has emerged?
The new information that has emerged is that the Tamil Tigers have striked again but this time not with aircrafts, but with boats. The Sri Lankan Navy destroyed 2 Tamil Tiger boats. The sea clash broke out later after the navy saw a big group of boats going towards the eastern side of the town, Pulmoddai. The group included 10 large boats, 12 small ones, and 4 suicide ships as the navy described. Two sailors had suffered by small injuries. The Tamil Tiger are actually citizens of Sri Lanka but they are against the government according to Oscar’s posting.
2. What did you find interesting about this topic?
What I found interesting was that the Tamil Tigers were actually citizens of Sri Lanka but they were just against their government, that seems a bit odd to me because they could be killing their own family and their destroying their own country and hometown.
3. What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I thought that the blog posting was very nicely and that Oscar used bullets so that it looks a lot more neater and more professional. I also thought that the pictures that he used were very good because with the map you could see more clearly where Sri Lanka is located in Asia. I thought that he was very smart to put that little note at the bottom to say that he does not stand incorrect if anything is wrong because all his information was correct at the time of post. Overall great job Oscar!

 Nefertiti
Missing mummy never found, most beautiful person, I was a legend. I ruled from 1353 B.C. to 1336 B.C. with Akhenaten, who loved me very much. He had a great love for me. We were normally seen kissing in public, I was sitting on his knee, or riding a chariot. My mummy was never found even with the strongest beauty, will my legend die?
I, Nefertiti am the most beautiful of all. I was known as the most beautiful person in the world. After all, my name did mean the beautiful one has come. I was the daughter of an army officer, Ay. I was married to Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten). I was also the stepmother of Pharaoh Tutankhamen. Later on I had changed my name to Neferneferuaten-Nefertiti. I was the pharaoh during the New Kingdom period. And I lived in Tell El Armana. I have 6 daughters, Meritaten, Meketaten and Ankhenspaaten, Neferneferuaten, and Neferneferure and Setepenre. One of my daughters married Tutankhamen. I will be forever known in the future.
Â
I am significant in many ways. My mummy was never found, I had simply vanished from all. I am the most beautiful person as you already know. And a very significant part of me is the long tube hat I wear with a cobra attached at the front. Significance is something everyone has.      Â
Â
I had helped Akhenaten to make a revolution and also to make a change in religion. We made the Amarna Revolution which made changes in religion, art, and social practices. I also helped Akhenaten making a new preach form monotheism which is to believe in only one god. My husband, Akhenaten’s religion was to believe in the light god, Aten. This change and revolution made a change in the world.
Â
There is still more you don’t know about me, and I shall tell you soon. Akhenaten and I made a new capital call Akhenatan but now it has changed to Armana. I had a beautiful bone structure. My lips were bold red, I had yellow brown skin, and my cheekbones were very high. There are still more mysteries and questions left to discover and that will be what the future brings you.

This is the beautiful Nefertiti.

New ’super-Earth’ found in space
What is the issue?
The issue is that a group of astronomers have discovered a new earth-like planet on the 25th of April. And the planet could have existing life and liquid water. This planet orbits the star Gliese 581 somewhere around the constellation Libra. It is about 20.5 light years away. The scientists discovered this place using the Eso 3.6m telescope in Chile.
Who is involved?
The scientists who discovered this planet are involved because they discovered this new planet which makes a big impact on science. We are all involved because we may be not the only people in this universe. The planet is also involved because if there is life there they might be trying to do the same thing as us, trying to find us.
Who is affected and how?
All of us in Earth are affected because there could be more of us out there and that leaves us wondering, “Will they be like us?” “Will their genes be more complex?” It will leave us wondering. And just try to imagine it, there could be someone out there also looking for us. Another way we are affected is because this can change our life.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved I will try to get the highest technology to try to see whether we could get even more proof that there may be another Earth. I would also do what Alison Boyle (a curator of astronomy in London ’s Science Museum) said which is to still try to get more powerful telescopes to get more information on this mysterious planet. I would also try to get the satellites to try to zoom in as much as possible to get a closer look at this new planet.
Think about the way peoples’ lives will be impacted.
People’s life will be impacted greatly as I said early because there could be more humans out there, or maybe they are not humans or something else. Which leaves us scared and anxious. Hopefully there will be more information about this later on in the future.

Famous Egyptians Reflection
The presentations I heard last class were incredible! Everyone did a great job! It was funny and interesting to hear about each of our gods, pharaohs, or kings. I learned that King Khufu was the one who built the Great Pyramids of Giza. I also learned that many of us were all related. I had to be Nefertiti and I was related to Akhenaten and also King Tut (Tutankhamen) we were all family. Also I had not known about many pharaohs and kings but after those presentations in Social Studies I learned a lot. I learned that King Tut had to be king when he was only 9 years old. That was the one of the most interesting fact I heard that day because imagine ruling at only 12 years old! That would be total chaos! I also learned that the Greeks got their ideas of architecture from Egyptians. I thought that was very interesting because I had always thought that they came up with that.
I didn’t think my presentation was the worst or the best, I thought it was just okay. Next time I really wish that my hat wouldn’t fall out and that I wouldn’t be so nervous or conscious of my surroundings because I felt a bit pressured while I was waiting until my turn. I also hope that all my information was accurate because I wasn’t so confident about my information. I was a bit uncomfortable when presenting because my costume was bothering me because it was a bit loose. It was also uncomfortable because after watching some people’s presentation I was, “Wow! They were good!” So that was a bit scary. But overall everyone did a FANTASTIC JOB! Kudos to everyone!

Title of Article: “Indonesian Ferry Fire Death Toll Doubles”
Date published: February 25th, 2007
Website address: http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=2902198
Date I looked at the site: February 27th, 2007
What new information has emerged
The new information that has emerged is that from only seven deaths, more and more bodies were found and the death tolls were doubled and now they have found 41 bodies and still many more people missing and have not been found for almost 3 days. 18 people were shipped to Jakarta including 18 men, a teenager, a woman, and a baby. Some people were found by ships and others found by fishermen around 2 islands. More were found near Coconut Island off Jakarta. When the ship had gotten on, people were seen jumping off the boats, including women and children.
What did you find intresting about this topic?
In this topic I found it intresting how so many people had died because of one fire. Some people are missing and they haven’t even been found yet. Rescue missions have been going on for about three days and they have found some people but there are still more to find. People even jumped off the ferry which is incredibly brave because ferry’s are amazingly big and it is very painful to jump into water from high land. Fishermen even found dead people close by to islands. I find that a bit scary because it isn’t very nice when you are in a boat to suddenly see this dead body.
What did you like about the initial blog posting?
What I liked about Lara’s blog is that she used a really good picture showing where the accident happened because there was a small little mini map on which country it was in and one of its close neighboring country or continent. I also liked how she said that she will cheer up the people who lost a family member or friend because someone needs to cheer the person up so they are not so sad anymore. Lara also included that she would make the ferries have more fire hoses and that is a really good point because if a fire started then they could just quickly use the hose and the fire would be gone! Lara did a really good job on presenting her Current Event! =D

Ivory Coast Toxic Clean-up Offer
What is the issue?
Dutch-based oil trading group, Trafigura is paying $198 million dollars to Ivory Coast for the toxic-waste damage in Abidjan. The toxic waste incident had occured when a ship called the Probo Koala dumped 500 tons of toxic waste in 12 sites around the biggest city Abidjan. The toxic waste had killed 10 citizens and had caused thousands of citizens to suffer from headaches, vomiting, diadiarrhoea, nosebleeds, and breathing problems. Many citizens were hospitalized. A French company has cleaned up the toxic-waste.
Who is involved
Citizens are involved because they were suffering from various illnesses and now they are finally free of the toxic wastes. Also over more than 450 pigs were killed so that the food chain wouldn’t go wrong.
Who is affected and how?
Friends and family of the people who had died are affected because they may have been mentally injured by their friend’s or family member’s death. The Ivorian Government is affected because they have been given a large amount of money for the damage that has been done to Abidjan.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved I would make sure that Ivory Coast doesn’t get polluted and if it ever happens again we can sue them because when they pollute the country they are doing a crime of killing people and injuring people and that is completely illegal.

Part 1
What would you change about the process you went through to complete the wiki if you were to do the assignment again?
If I could change the process my group and I went through we would try to spend more time on the assignment and focus on the information more than the pictures or these fancy little things that we tried to do like get all these pictures from google earth.
Part 2
Look at the other wikis from any class and find what you think are done exceptionally well. Include the name of the empire and the block, and then explain what you like about their wiki.
When I looked at the other wikis I noticed that Block D had put paragraphs on each Kingdom on their homepage. I thought that what they did was really helpful because if someone went to their homepage they can read this brief paragraph on different Kingdoms. I liked how Zimbabwe- Enviroment- Block E put in the different species of animals because not many wikis had a seperate column for animals like how Block E did. I also liked how Swahili- Block E made their own seperate wikispace. They also made a page about the authors of the different pages. These groups really did a good job on their page.
